SMS_Nutrition is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.  We aim at all times to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.  This policy applies to all of our dealings with you including when you interact with our website  Our site is hosted by WIX whose servers are located in Europe & US.

What we collect: We may collect the following information:

  • Contact information and personal details – home address, email, contact telephone numbers, details of GP and other medical professionals;

  • Current and past medical history, current medications, body measurements and lifestyle information provided by the client;

  • If you access our website, technical information including internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the internet, your login information, browser type and version time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform.



What we do with the information we gather:


We will use the data collected about you in the following ways:

  • to provide services to you;

  • to deal with your enquiry if you complete our contact form;

  • to assess and understand your requirements;

  • Professional clinical record keeping of client information;



Where and how we store your personal data


I am committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, I have put in place appropriate technical, organisational and security measures to safeguard and secure the information I collect.


  • As referred to above, our website is hosted by WIX no data is stored on our website.

  • I keep all paper records containing your Personal Data in locked cabinets and only allow access to those who need to access the Personal Data.

  • Our laptops are password protected

  • Documents are password protected;

  • We use an electronic GDPR compliant system for storing electronic records [e.g Cloud Storage Software) and service providers including Zoom video conferencing software and 10to8 booking tool

  • Records made by SMS_Nutrition relating to the care of a client will be stored for eight years (in line with British Dietetic Association Guidance for Record and Record-Keeping). For clients under the age of 18, records will be kept until your 21st birthday.

  • We may also be under an obligation to store your Personal Data for longer in accordance with our professional indemnity insurers requirements.

  • You can change your preferences (including unsubscribing from communications) at any point by contacting Séanín Smith on

  • To comply with GDPR the contact details of clients who avail of services from SMS_Nutrition will be stored for no longer than one year following our last correspondence, or until a company or individual requests that they are deleted.

  • Any personal information documented from telephone contact related to the services I provide will be destroyed once the telephone conversation is completed unless there is a valid reason to retain this as part of service provision. In which case I will retain this information until you the client asks that I remove it, but for no longer than a year after the last telephone conversation.

  • Any contact I receive on social media is also handled securely and confidentially in line with the GDPR. I will delete any social media messages upon request from the individual concerned, and all contact will be deleted within one year following our last correspondence.

By booking an appointment with Séanín Smith (Registered Associate Nutritionist), you are consenting that you understand the following information, including risks and benefits of booking a telehealth consultation.

  • SMS_Nutrition is run by Séanín Smith; a Registered Associate Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition in the UK (membership number: 12104) and The Nutrition Society Séanín is also trained in Intuitive Eating by the London Centre of Intuitive Eating.  

  • Séanín Smith aims to use her scientific knowledge, and expertise in a professional manner.

  • Individual participation: You will receive individualised dietary advice based on your consultation.  You are responsible for the implementation of this advice.

  • Séanín Smith adheres to the AfN standards, codes and ethics which stipulate that any advertising must be accurate and done in a responsible way. 

  • We ask for 24 hours notice for appointment cancellation in order to avoid a late cancellation fee of 50% of the consultation price.

  • Those who do not attend an appointment without providing any notice will be charged the full consultation fee and will be asked to pay for their next appointment in advance.

Information about Telemedicine Consultations:

  • Telemedicine is the use of video call or video conferencing software in order to carry out nutrition consultations remotely. This differs from face-to-face consultation as we will not be in the same room as each other during the consultation.

  • Some parts of the consultation involving physical examinations (i.e. body weight) may be conducted at your location, and we can discuss these measurements during the consultation.

  • The main benefits of telemedicine consultations are increased flexibility for both parties in terms of the timing and location of consultations. 

  • The main risks related to telemedicine consultations include technical difficulties, interruptions, unauthorised access or communication difficulties.

  • I will ensure that your privacy is protected by ensuring nobody else can hear the consultation and using secure and encrypted software.

  • If an issue arises with technology which we can not fix during the consultation, we can revert to a phone consultation or rearrange the consultation if needed.

Consent for a Nutrition Consultation via Telemedicine Appointment:

You consent to this telemedicine appointment for dietary & lifestyle advice and any further telemedicine appointments that you book with Séanín (Registered Associate Nutritionist ). You understand what telehealth consultations involve (see above
information) including the benefits and risks. You understand that you or Séanín Smith can discontinue the telemedicine consultation if it is felt that the videoconferencing connections are not adequate for the situation. 

Séanín Smith will handle your personal data in a secure manner for the purpose of providing dietetic services to you, in accordance with GDPR and our data protection policy (as outlined above). This is in relation to the use of your personal data (such as: contact details, medical information, body measurements, diet and lifestyle information) and you are happy to proceed with nutrition services. You understand that your data will be stored securely for eight years and for clients under the age of 18, records will be kept until your 21st birthday.

Communication Policy

  • Séanín aims to communicate effectively with all of her clients and to answer all genuine messages and emails in a timely manner. Response times depend. 

  • In the event of any technical difficulties during consultations, Séanín may suggest restarting devices, trying a different device or having a phonecall as a secure back-up option.

  • Séanín does not respond to offensive, attacking or irrelevant messages, or to comments messages with no connection to nutrition treatment.  

  • Inappropriate communication may lead to termination of your access to dietetic services from Séanín Smith. If deemed necessary, the police may also be contacted (for example in cases of threatening or inappropriate communication).

  • Where appropriate, Séanín may continue a conversation via email or private message rather than on a social media platform. Maeve does not provide personal dietary advice to anybody via social media, including current clients.
